This impulsively created work impressively reflects the mood that prevailed during his creative process: frustration over commissions he had accepted without thinking, self-doubt, inner reproaches—and a creative block fueled by the attempt to live up to external expectations I felt I was not up to. After several failed attempts and wasted material, I finally reached for an old canvas and painted it with a painter's knife in rough black—reckless, raw, liberated.
The next day, I added gold accents—not as a contrast, but as a response: a silent symbol of those sparks of creativity that continue to burn within us, even beneath layers of frustration and exhaustion. Ashes and Embers speaks of setbacks, inner pressure, and the strength to reconnect with one's passion from the ashes.
